## Methodology and caveats (cite these alongside the numbers)
1. **Birth of country, not citizenship.** Figures count residents born in the
   USA, which overcounts U.S. citizenship by roughly a third nationally. The gap
   is largest in Galicia and Asturias, where many U.S.-born residents are the
   children of Spanish emigrants who returned home — not American settlers.
2. **Second-generation blindness.** U.S. citizens who settle and raise children
   born in Spain appear once, not as a household — so this is a floor, not a
   ceiling, on American-origin communities.
3. **Residual buckets.** A few birth countries sit in "other" groupings that
   cannot be split, so some small nationalities are not individually counted.
4. **No dominance score.** We publish neutral composition only; we do not rank
   towns by any "welcome", "friendliness", or dominance score — no such dataset
   exists.
5. **Small-municipality noise.** Per-capita rankings apply a minimum of 50
   U.S.-born residents to avoid tiny towns producing meaningless rates.
